Leadership Statement
What is best for students is my guiding principle as a leader.
My leadership philosophy has been developed over many years of service in education. I am an educator and view it as a calling rather than a job. I’m grateful for the opportunity to add value to student learning by teaching, mentoring, coaching, and leading others.
The foundation of my leadership philosophy is built on trust, respect and integrity. I nurture trust and respect in all areas of the school community. I take time to build constructive relationships with attention to and understanding of the individual needs of each person. I lead with enthusiasm and a clear construct of beliefs which serve as a guide in building common understandings and a shared moral purpose.
I am creative, innovative, and take risks to enhance teaching and learning, implement the school’s shared vision, and achieve strategic goals. I welcome diverse perspectives and open communication. I view differences of opinion as opportunities for growth and encourage healthy debate. I value input and staff participation in decision making processes. I encourage staff to see solutions; to go beyond identifying problems, to proposing innovative ideas and creative solutions. I believe in consultation and accountability. Once a decision is taken all are accountable to move forward with professionalism.
I am an open minded, reflective, clear communicator. I am attentive and observant to the needs of the school community; identifying areas for growth and sensitively and collaboratively utilizing this knowledge to strategically implement change. I believe in the power of a community working toward a shared vision; empowering voice, choice, and leadership throughout the change process.
I am a holistic, inclusive leader with a good sense of humor. I believe in the importance of meeting the needs of the whole child, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. I share the same belief for adults and thus strive for balance in the fast paced 21st century world we live in. I believe in leading a full, healthy life, integrating career, family, community activities, and personal wellness. Respecting and modeling the importance of a balanced life leads to a happier, healthier, more productive school community.
