In 1998 I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Western Washington University where I became dual certified in Special Education K-12 and Elementary Education K-8. I immediately began teaching in a K-6 elementary school in Bothell, Washington where I worked with students with autism, Down Syndrome, emotional behavioral disorders, developmental delays, learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. In 2000 I opened and established a special education contained learning center program at a K-6 elementary school in Kenmore, Washington.
In 2004, I was awarded a Fulbright Teacher Exchange Scholarship. I moved to Warwick, England where I worked in a Year 2 classroom at a Special School until July 2005. This was a challenging and rewarding professional growth opportunity.
In 2008 I earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix where I earned a degree in Administration and Supervision. My thesis project was on Response to Intervention (RTI). I put much of my research into practice in the US. In 2009 I took on an International teaching post at the International School of Geneva as the Extended Support Program Coordinator where I work with 3-7 year old students with special needs. In 2011 I was appointed Assistant Principal in the school where I maintain my teaching post. In my role as part-time Assistant Principal I lead a team of both teaching and support staff, ensuring high quality teaching and learning is alive and thriving in the classrooms.
I currently live in Geneva, Switzerland where I enjoy skiing, sailing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
